I wore my new earrings at work today, the ones my mother brought me from her holiday. They are blue and purple feathers and leather bands and white pearls. They are wonderful.
This guy who seems to like me and who has been spending his lunch with me for two weeks now told me they are nice, and that they suit me. Suit my character.
He’s right.
And it got me thinking. How is it that this guy, this young man whose name I can’t even pronounce properly, knows me like this? And my closest friends don’t? Or maybe they do but I can’t really tell, because they might know those earrings suit my character but that is the end of it, really.
Am I giving away myself only to the people who won’t ever come close enough to work with it?
